About the event

Shul on the Beach

COVID 19 Safety Guidelines

Based on the guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control, Los Angeles County, and our medical advisors, these are the guidelines for COVID safety at shul:

Outside Vaccinated Individuals: No Restrictions

If you are vaccinated, you have no restrictions other than those listed below about keeping common areas clear. Mask-wearing is voluntary, not mandatory. If you are speaking to another vaccinated person, you do not need to distance yourself.  If you are speaking to an unvaccinated individual, we recommend maintaining a distance of six feet apart.

Unvaccinated Individuals: Mask OR Distance

If you have chosen not to receive the vaccine, you have taken upon yourself the risk of contracting COVID. This is your right. Please understand that by exercising this right, you may risk placing others in harm’s way. When outside, either:

  • Wear a mask or
  • Maintain a distance of six feet from other unvaccinated individuals unless they are in your household.

These guidelines expect you to be on the “honor system.” No one will check your vaccine status. We hope you voluntarily abide by these guidelines out of respect for your fellow shul-members.

Keep Common Areas Clear, Please

As both vaccinated and unvaccinated people may need to enter or leave the shul and/or use the restrooms, we ask all shul attendees to keep the area around the entrances, exits, and restrooms clear. Please hold your conversations away from these areas.

Do Not Be the “COVID Police”

Many people’s feelings have been bruised, and some people have even stopped coming to shul because someone spoke to them harshly about their mask-wearing or vaccine status. This behavior will no longer be tolerated. If someone speaks to you inappropriately, give that person immediate feedback that their behavior is not acceptable.

Guidelines for Indoor Prayer Are Forthcoming

These guidelines relate to outdoor davening only. When we move inside, the lack of air circulation may require us to take more stringent precautions. Guidelines will be forthcoming when we move indoors.
