ABOUT OUR CANTORIAL AND LITURGICAL TEAM

Shacharis and select other services will be led by Baal Tefilla Dr. Shloimie Frankel, senior choir member of the late world-renowned Cantor, Reb  Ben Tzion Miller OB”M, and a long time  Director (and member) of the Rinat Shlomo Men’s  choir residenced at the Beverly Hills Synagogue. When not being musical, Dr. Frankel  prominently practices pediatric dentistry and general orthodontics in the L.A./Beverly Hills area. 

Mussaf and select other services  will be led again this year by our own Rabbi Shalom, who, as a senior Cantor, has led congregations around the world for more than three decades, having studied under his father, the late Rabbi/Cantor Yosef Rubanowitz OB”M, Rav Sheftel Neuberger za”l, the “Chazzan” of  Ner Israel Yeshiva (Baltimore), and under the world famous Erblich family cantors, Chazzan Moishe Leib Erblich,  za”l and brothers Yankel (za”l) and Baruch Erblich. 

Reading of the Torah will be again done  this year by beloved veteran Shul member and Baal Koreh R’ Herzl Ben Marome. “Ben”, as he is affectionately called, grew up in Jerusalem in the bosom of a prominent Yemenite family, and has read the Torah and led services in our Shul for more than 40 years. Ben was among those heroic IDF soldiers who liberated Jerusalem and the Kotel (Western Wall) during the 1967 Six Day War. We are so very proud to have him as such an important part of our congregation, and part of our High Holiday liturgical team.

GABBAI. Presiding over our Torah Reading procedure is Shul President Dr. Ellie Goldstein. A world-renowned physician and infectious disease  expert, Dr. Goldstein has, on top of his busy schedule, directed and led Shuls in Santa Monica and Venice Beach for over 4 decades, serving as President of the Young Israel of Santa Monica  and now leading our own Shul with passion and fortitude. He is also the best Mi Shebayrach and Torah blessing giver in the country!
