Hitler in Los Angeles: How Jews Foiled Nazi Plots Against Hollywood and America

Author and Presenter Steven J. Ross is a Professor of History at USC and Director of the Casden Institute for the Study of the Jewish Role in American Life. As an Oxford and Princeton alum, Steven has an expertise in Social, Political, and Film History. Among other awards, Steven has been nominated for a Pulitzer and has appeared on the Today Show, and in the LA Times, Wall Street Journal, and more.

at the home of Alan Risch -1106 Maple St. Santa Monica, CA

This Hungarian film won an Oscar in 2016 for best foreign film. Set In October 1944, it’s about Saul Ausländer,a Hungarian member of the Sonderkommando, a group of Jewish prisoners forced to lead other inmates in Auschwitz-Birkenau to their deaths and dispose of their bodies in the crematoriums. One day, Saul finds a young boy and, taking him for his son, tries to arrange for a proper Jewish funeral for him.
